What is Singing Mamas?
At Singing Mamas we learn simple songs by ear without music or words – it’s an amazingly powerful way to lift spirits and connect with other women. There’s no sheet music, no auditions, no performances, and no pressure!
You don’t need to be a singer and you don’t even need to be a mum – we welcome all women, including mums, sisters, grandmothers and carers. We sing a range of songs, from fun and upbeat recognisable tunes through to relaxing, meditative reflections, all by ear and always with female wellbeing at the heart of each session.
Children of all ages are welcome at Singing Mamas Sevenoaks. If you’re a mum or child-carer, how many groups have you been to where the focus is on the adult rather than the baby? Probably not many, if any!
The joy of Singing Mamas is that you have a great time while the children soak in the beautiful music, sing along and love seeing everyone enjoying themselves.
Singing is a natural antidepressant
We believe that singing is for all, and that singing can unite. Singing Mamas groups are a relaxed place for women to come together and experience the shared joy of singing.
Singing in a group is scientifically proven to improve health and wellbeing, meaning you’ll come away from a session with a heart full of song and delight from connecting with local women.
This movement grew its roots from providing a supportive space for mums, and out of that has sprung a national non-profit community for maternal and female wellbeing. There are many groups running across the UK, helping 100s of women to connect through the beauty of song sharing. For more about Singing Mamas visit www.singingmamaschoir.com
